COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
The aim of the Community Development service is to provide advice and support to help develop local responses to substance misuse and related issues.
This is done in may ways and includes:
- Supporting families directly affected by substance misuse
- Advice to individuals and groups
- Training and awareness raising (including young people accredited training)
- Mapping service provision
- Acting in an advisory capacity on various Committees & Forums
- Outreach work
- Consultation with young people and communities
- Facilitating diversionary activities
- Assisting in fundraising for local projects
- Attending PACT meetings
- Joint work with Community Nurses to provide a Sexual Health service for young people
- Community needle exchange and information drop-ins
- Linking to Crucial Crew, Wise for Life and EBP initiatives
- Community Awareness Open Days
This project provides a unique method of engaging communities in issues around substance misuse that may be affecting them.
